Sample CAIPS File and Notes
Your CAIPS file is a seven‑page* printout, or a collection of not quite reader‑friendly printed screenshots. Your CAIPS notes are difficult to read also because of the codes used by the system. In addition, screen menus and information, such as case status or bring forward date, are repeated throughout the document. Visa officers' notes are however recorded in plain English.
It is important to understand how a careful scrutiny of your CAIPS file can help you. To show you the wealth of information included in your CAIPS notes, we have prepared six screenshots with no personal information included but with comments pointing out the most important matters. Our screenshots follow the logical order of the actual document.

1. Case status
The case status section identifies and summarizes your application in the system: case type; date (presented in a DD‑MM‑YYYY format) when your application was received; identification of applicant, dependants and agent etc.
The case status section is followed by the bring forward date - an indication of when the case will be reviewed next by a visa officer if nothing requiring entry into CAIPS occurs before that date.
The case status section is also followed by the CAIPS notes. The CAIPS notes show all entries by visa officers who examine your case (dates and officers' initials included).

3. Medical assessment
The medical assessment section opens with a medical case directory, where you are listed together with all your dependants that require a medical examination. Further notes included are medical assessments for each, with corresponding medical codes, expiration dates, diagnoses and observations.
